The cleaning of the kitchen chimney depends on the type of the chimney whether it’s manual, auto clean, or filterless.

  • If it’s a manual chimney, you have to clean it weekly. (Filter’s cleaning).
  • For auto clean chimneys, cleaning is required per month. (Both filters and oil collector cleaning).
  • There are no filters in the filterless chimneys so you have to clean an oil collector only. You can clean the oil collector anytime.

Note: You can reduce the cleaning time period if you find low suction power in your chimney.

1. Vinegar

Vinegar is a natural ingredient to remove stubborn stains.

How To Clean Chimney’s hood?

  • Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to hot water.
  • Rub this mixture on the hood with the scrubber and wait for a few minutes after that.
  • Clean it with a moist cloth later.
  • Rub the dry cloth on the hood or let it dry naturally.

How To Clean Chimney’s Filters And Meshes?

  • Take boiling water in the tub and mix a few drops of vinegar in the hot water.
  • Put filters and meshes in it.
  • Scrub them with a soft scrubber after 2 hours for perfect cleaning.
  • Keep these filters under the sunlight to dry.

2. Baking Soda & Vinegar

How do I clean my chimney with baking soda and vinegar?

With the help of baking soda, you can easily clean the hood and the filter of the chimney both but in different ways.

How To Clean Chimney’s hood?

  • Take 2 tablespoons of baking soda and some water for making a thick paste.
  • Or 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a small amount of white vinegar is required for preparing a paste.
  • Apply the paste over the area that you want to clean. Wipe off after a few minutes.
  • Wait until they dry.

How To Clean Chimney’s Filters And Meshes?

  • You need a bucket full of hot water for holding the filters and meshes.
  • Pour 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda, 2 cups of vinegar, and salt in the tub.
  • Wait for 2 hours and clean them with water afterward.
  • Don’t forget to dry these meshes and filters before place them again in the chimney.

 3. Caustic Soda

Caustic soda is again a natural and inexpensive ingredient for cleaning kitchen chimney.

How To Clean Chimney’s Hood?

  • Mix 1 tablespoon of caustic soda, a few drops of lemon juice, dish gel, and hot water.
  • Dip the soft scrubber into the solution and rub the chimney hood.
  • Wait for 1 hour and clean the chimney with a moist cloth.
  • Let it dry in the open air.

How To Clean Chimney’s filters & Meshes?

  • Place the filters in the bucket, pour boiling water and sprinkle some classic soda. You can add lemon & dish gel too in the solution.
  • Let it stay for 3 hours.
  • Rub the filters for proper cleaning.
  • Dry them afterward.

Note: Please don’t touch the caustic soda with the bare hands. As it will burn your skin. Wear the protective gear while you are doing this procedure.

4. Dishwashing Liquid

If none of the above options are available, dishwashing liquid is always in your kitchen.

  • Mix the dishwashing liquid with boiling water.
  • Now dip the scrubber in this solution and start scrubbing the hood of the chimney.
  • Let it stay for 30-35 minutes and rub it with a moist cloth.
  • Wait for drying.

How To Clean Chimney’s filters & Meshes?

  • Remove the filters from the chimney.
  • Place them in a bucket filled with hot water.
  • Mix the dishwashing liquid with lemon juice. Now pour this solution into the bucket.
  • Wait for 2 hours and scrub the filters to clean completely.
  • Wash with normal water and let them dry.

5. Paint Thinners

Paint thinner is also a good choice for removing grease, oil, etc.

How To Clean Chimney’s hood?

  • Normal ingredients baking soda, dishwashing liquid, and classic soda, etc are perfect for removing stains.
  • But for stubborn stains, you can use paint thinner or nail polish.
  • Dip the cloth in the paint thinner and scrub the hood.
  • After that clean and dry it properly.

How To Clean Chimney’s filters & Meshes?

  • Pour the paint thinner at the cloth and rub the filters with it to remove oil and grease.
  • Wash the filters afterward with hot water and keep them under the sunlight.

Note 1: Unplug your kitchen chimney before cleaning.

Note 2: Make sure to dry filters and hood completely before switching on the chimney.

How To Clean A Manual Kitchen Chimney?

The cleaning of every chimney is the same. The difference between different types of chimneys’ cleaning is the time period.

For all manual chimneys, you will have to clean their filters very frequently (Weekly).

How To Clean An Auto clean Chimney?

There is an auto clean button to clean the chimney. Just push the button and oil gets collected in the oil collector. So the filters of these chimneys should be cleaned once or twice a month.

In filterless chimneys, you have to clean only the oil collector.

For cleaning the oil collector, just wash it as you wash dishes in your kitchen.
