Heartiest congratulations on your pregnancy 🙂
I know you are too excited about your new baby but meanwhile, don’t give up your personal appearance. Make your beautiful months more beautiful in every sense.
Pregnancy affects your body, skin & hair so you must adopt a new beauty routine according to your new changes. If you are a makeup junkie, you can not stay away from the pregnancy beauty tips given below.
Table of Contents
1. Skincare During Pregnancy
Your skin changes during 9 months of pregnancy like too much dry or oily skin and dark spots. You can not do anything about hormonal roller coaster ride but you can definitely play safely. So ditch your old skin products and try cream or moisturizers according to your changing skin.
Safe Skincare Products For Pregnant Women:
- Bio-Oil
- Kama Ayurveda Dhanwantharm
- Kama Ayurveda Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
- Forest Essentials Kshadathylam Mother’s Back Pain Oil
Don’t scratch the area with your fingernails when you feel itching because it not only dull your beauty but also causes an infection. Alternatively, you could use a clean cold cotton cloth to soothe an itchy area.
Also, stay away from the products that can cause itchiness like household cleanser & perfumes.
Face Wash
Coming to your face care, your first priority must be your face. So avoid harsh soap and start using mild face wash because soap strips natural oil from the face.
Don’t use products that have paraben because they are toxic in nature. They are harmful to your skin and hormones. Also, avoid any kind of skin treatment in the saloon.
Look for a moisturizing body wash as a beauty routine
Aquaphor Skincare
Aquaphor works or repairs your dry chapped and cracked skin. It enriched with vitamin C, E, shea butter, and soothing chamomile.
It is also preservative-free, dye-free, and fragrance-free.
Store in a cool dry place.
Limit Your Bath
A long bath will be affecting your beauty because long showers or excessive hand-washing lead to dry & itchy skin. Add mineral oil to your baths and limit your bath time(10 minutes is sufficient).
2. Cleanse Well But Don’t Over-exfoliate
Cleaning is a must for removing dirt and clearing pores. But don’t overdo it because the skin of a pregnant lady is very sensitive.
Choose a mild cleanser & pay more attention to jaw lines where pores can get clogged.
Do not wash your face more than twice a day if your skin is dry.
3. Avoid Yourself From Sunlight
I don’t recommend here to use sunscreen because it has chemicals but sun protection is also extremely important at the same time. Try to wear sun-protected clothes and a broad-brimmed hat for protecting yourself from UV rays.
If you are really want to apply sunscreen, keep these points in mind:
- Broad-spectrum sunscreen is good.
- Go for an oil-free and non-comedogenic formula.
- Choose sunscreen which contains at least SPF 30.
- Sunscreen does not contain oxybenzone.
- Invest in a physical sunscreen rather than chemicals sunscreen.
4. Ingredients According To Skin TypeÂ
Keep your makeup simple & use natural products as much as you can. But one thing you must keep in mind that not every natural ingredient is suitable for your skin type so natural ingredients must be chosen according to the skin.
I am giving a few examples here:
- Yogurt & milk bath for dry skin.
- Tomato, Lemon & Honey, cucumber for oily skin.
5. Safe Hair Removal
Shaping up eyebrows, cleaning upper lip hair, threading, removing the chin and facial hair are normal. Permanent hair removal solutions like electrolysis and laser are really dangerous.
Pubic hair removal is really helpful before delivery but keeps in mind that it should be done in a hygienic manner.
6. Tinted Lip Balm
Red lipstick is an all-time favorite of all women but it is harmful to your baby because chemicals enter into your body while you eat or drink.
Go for Burt’s Bees 100% natural tinted lip balm. It contains shea butter and botanical waxes which keeps your lips hydrated. There are no parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, or SLS in this lip balm.
Alternatively, you could use vaseline lip therapy for rosy lips. It contains SPF 15, pro-vitamin E, rose oil, and almond oil.
7. 3-free Or 5-free Nail Polish
Buy a 3-free nail polish as it does not contain DBP(dibutyl phthalate), Toluene, and Formaldehyde. The chemicals in nail polish & nail polish remover can do serious harm.
I understand staying away from nail polish is not easy so I am recommending you some popular brands like OPI, Sally Hansen, and Essie. They provide nail polishes that are 3-free.
You might invest in 5-free nail polish for extra care. The 5-free does not additionally contain formaldehyde resin and camphor.
8. Kajal
Apply homemade kajal if you can otherwise, use chemical-free kajal. Pay close attention to the ingredients in the kajal before buying.
Forex: Himalaya Herbals Kajal. This might be helpful for you and affordable too.
Although Himalaya products are chemical-free and famous in the Indian market, some products may contain parabens and synthetic preservatives.
So go for this kajal if you trust Himalaya’s brand.
9. Non-Whitening Toothpaste
Whiteners are cleansing agents that also found in some toothpaste. Research says that teeth whitening is bad for a pregnant lady.
Teeth whiteners contain peroxide. Peroxide may or may not harm your pregnancy because its levels are so low. But I seriously recommend that you must first talk to your doctor before using any whitening products.
Choose a paste that does not contain whitening agents or any dental bleaching. I recommend Colgate(Colgate Cavity Protection Toothpaste, 6 Ounce, 2 Count).
Brush your teeth two times a day once in the morning and once in the evening.
10. How To Dress During Pregnancy
Don’t need to buy different & cheap outfits according to your new belly fat. As your belly grows so buy the outfits which are stretchable for the transformative months from the first trimester to the beginning of your third like wrap up tops, kaftan tops, button-down shirts, loose short dresses, shoulder-baring tops, and Kurtis
You must buy belly support jeans, these are very stretchable and comfortable. Whether you are carrying the baby low or high, these jeans will definitely give you perfect support.
Flaunt your baby bumps with the most comfortable and stylish leggings. Keep in mind that the waistband is adjustable so that you could count that legging at all stages of your pregnancy. Team the legging with tunic, tee, and kurti.
Cotton is really a good choice for pregnancy as they are breathable and loose. There are lots of cotton kurtis available in the market.
You will not regret buying the maxi dress during your pregnancy time. They look feminine & trendy.
11. Buy Bra Extender Or Maternity Bras
One must wear a fitted bra because an unfit bra looks really bad even if your outfit is awesome.
Your breast size also changes along with your belly so for looking good, you must choose a maternity bra. If money is your issue, buy a bra extender instead.
12. Non-toxic Shampoo/Conditioner
Hold shampoos with shea butter, lime, sunflower seed oil. There is not good smell in natural shampoos but they do not contain bad ingredients.
You should consider Nine Naturals(Nine Naturals Citrus + Mint Nourishing Pregnancy Shampoo).
Consider essential oil too under the observation of your doctor.
13. Transform Hairstyle
- A-Line
- Long bob
- Wear a hat
- Low ponytail
- Fringes With Side Parting
- Topknot
- Half up bun
- Messy side bun
- Headscarf
- Headband
- Tousled Waves
Easy hairstyles to follow during pregnancy:
Ingredients To Avoid During Pregnancy
- No paraben
- Avoid phthalate
- Not recommended DEA
- Don’t go for formaldehyde
- Stay away from chemical sunscreen
- Never choose toluene
- A big no for aluminum chloride.
- Sulfate-free
- Fragrance-free
- BPA-Free
- No, no Benzoyl
- Not safe salicylic acid
Must-Follow Points
- Healthy eating
- Drink a lot of water
